I fuckin' love Disney.

Rant - Watching: Disney movies
I spent the past weekend at Disney with Troix's family while she went to Metrocon (lucky skank), I'm actually kind of glad I went.
Even though her family is extremely annoying and her cousin Thomas was on my like white on rice.
For as long as I can remember I've always loved Disney. We used to have a really old tape of the Jungle book and Goofy short my mom recorded, and the resolution was terrible and certain parts were static, but my brother and I used to watch it over and over, and no matter how many times we watched it we never ever got bored. Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and The Aristocats were a few of the ones we had, but we both just adored them all.
We all loved Disney when we were kids though, didn't we? Before we knew about sex or drugs or Catholisism, or any of the other evil things in this world.
When I went to Disney I was in one of the 'Classics' shops that sold older merchandise, such as Riverboat Mickey and other originals. Something that really caught my attention though was a poster - it showed a huge patch of sparse looking swamp land, but also visible was a transulcent Disney castle and Walt Disney, standing proudly in the foreground. I can't quite remember what it said, but I do believe it read something like: "There is no such thing as impossible." Seeing it made me remember what the original purpose of Disney was, and I felt positively crushed at what my beloved Disney had become. The original dream of the great Walt was being perverted with shameless merchandising and lousy workers. Honestly, service there is god awful, people are so detached and rude there now.
But when I watched the night parade I completely forgot about all of that. When the music played and the fireworks burst I was lost in the moment - one of those sensory experiences that are impossible to describe unless you've experienced it before. When I heard them play "When You Wish Upon A Star" I just positively wanted to cry with joy, and I don't really know why. Maybe it's because I know that the song's a lie, and that fantasies like the ones in the classic Disney movies don't really happen. I mean, who didn't watch Peter Pan when they were 6 and wish they could fly to Neverland and never have to grow up?
And as soon as I got back to my hotel the magic faded and I went back to being my angry, cynical self. And realization of this made me so upset that the very next day I went to Downtown Disney and bought a little metal bracelet that says "Believe" with a Mickey Mouse head imprinted on the side. I bought it because I don't want to forget that elated feeling of joy I get when I indulge my fantasies.
I really truly do want to believe - and I have decided that someday I will work at Disney! I want to be a cast member, and dress up as a Disney character and parade around FantasyLand in a poofy dress and make-believe that I'm in a Disney movie! But most of all...most of all I don't want to lose that child-like hope and innocence that reality and my parents sapped away! I want to be able to remember that magic and not have to be so angry and hateful toward happy things!
